Aint Nobody Got Time for That Letting Go Saying No - Workology
Ainât Nobody Got Time for That Letting Go Saying No LEARNING TO LET GO Right now, I have three to-do lists and two calendars for work, two calendars for home and the kids, and countless little notes, ideas and journals. Not to mention the ideas that pop in my head: I want to do that, remember this, try that, go here, call this person or attend that webinar. When does it stop? I hardly have time for myself. How many of you have said that to yourself lately? Recently, I spent a few hours one afternoon in my office with markers, a highlighter and lots of paper. I began organizing everything that I do into âbuckets.â Each piece of paper was titled at the top with a job function: social media, recruitment, employer branding, vendor management, etc. Under each category title, I listed all of the related tasks and to-do items. Then, I ranked each task: A, B or C. A = absolutely, I have to do this. B = best to probably do it. C = crap I can probably cut. (This ranking system is in a business text somewhere, I am sure of it.) LEARNING TO LET GO After strategically ranking my lists, I went through them with a big yellow highlighter and circled responsibilities that I could possibly delegate to a stellar new person on my team. If you have not something similar to this exercise, I would strongly encourage you to take the time to do it. As a full-time working mom of two little ones, it was borderline therapeutic. And, you might just surprise yourself by how much you really do! Learning to let go of things that I have done for years does notcome naturally to me ⦠itâs something that I am working on. At home, itâs the same way ⦠but at some point, something has to give. Thereâs a great song that my daughter likes called âBusyâ by the Not-Its which says, âweâre too busy ⦠we need to just slow down.â And, I agree. FOMO: Fear of Missing Out A few weeks ago, I had a wonderful call with a bright, driven GenY CEO and she mentioned she has FOMO, the fear of missing out. While I donât know if that is the clinical term, I got exactly what she was saying. And, I feel the same way. I want to be a part of meetings, participate in daily Twitter chats, attend conferences and vendor demos, and read all the latest blogs on social media. Iâd also like to write a book, watch non-DVRed shows, train for a marathon and find time to fold the laundry. ITâS ABOUT PRIORITIZING When there are a hundred things thrown at you from all directions, it can be overwhelming. Oh, you just need to prioritize someone might say. Well, OK, but what if everything is important? I would say that some things probably donât need to be done ever, some less often and, as hard as it may be, sometimes we just need to say, âNo, while Iâd like to do [fill in the blank], I wonât be able to commit to it.â HOW ARE YOU LETTING GO AND SAYING NO? This is all still new to me and Iâm a work in progress. Iâd love to hear your tips for prioritizing, letting go, delegating and/or saying no.

How to Prepare for Government Job Interview Questions
Instructions to Prepare for Government Job Interview Questions Instructions to Prepare for Government Job Interview Questions Getting ready for an administration prospective employee meeting isn't troublesome. It just requires some investment to investigate the association and position, foresee inquiries questions and plan inquiries to pose to the recruiting supervisor. Here are the particular things that you can do to get ready for an administration prospective employee meet-up. Eat up the Organization's Website Looking into data on the association's site encourages you increase a wide comprehension of what it does, who it serves, who involves official positions, the most recent data the association has put out, and what's going on the present moment. Recall this data is one-sided. The association will place itself in a positive light. Data from different sources will give you a total picture. Take a gander at how the organization introduces itself in contrast with what different sources let you know. Ideally, they are comparative, yet in the event that there is an enormous contrast, the organization might be attempting to turn a story when they ought to take ownership of mix-ups. The site ought to have hyperlinks to the organization's empowering resolution and regulatory principles. Contingent upon the position you apply for, it might be useful to survey these. You can get the significance of them in layman's terms somewhere else on the site. Data on the association's site causes you create inquiries to pose toward the finish of the meeting. Asking an all around investigated inquiry toward the finish of a meeting is an incredible method to leave a decent impression. Such an inquiry shows you got your work done and are really intrigued by the association and the position. It doesn't need to be anything groundbreaking. Simply soliciting what a set from measurements, an outline, or a law means can be noteworthy. Peruse the Press Clippings Quest the Internet for reports about the office. This will assist you with finding out about the issues that the association is confronting, who is included and how the office is reacting. Press clippings can enable you to see where there are contradictions between the organization and legislators, intrigue gatherings, or people. Take a gander at the equalization of good press versus terrible press. An excess of terrible press is one of the signs that an administration office is in a difficult situation. Be careful while thinking about work with a disturbed office. You would prefer not to leave a steady circumstance for a rough one. In the event that the organization is encountering a decrease in power, maintain a strategic distance from that office except if you have no different alternatives. It is generally the latest recruits that are given up first. Search for Clues in the Job Posting An administration work posting is typically acceptable about letting you know precisely what the office needs in the individual they enlist for the position. This is on the grounds that resulting archives in the meeting procedure -, for example, character testing, in-container activities, and inquiries questions - depend hands on depiction. The set of working responsibilities ought to be profoundly like the position's exhibition plan and assessment rules. You ought to have just gone over the posting in incredible detail when you went after the position, however it might take some time for an administration office to experience all the means important to make a rundown of finalists to be met. Go over the posting once more. Invest considerably more energy with it than you did when you went after the position. The posting will reveal to you the information, aptitudes, and capacities that you have to show you have. Consider every one of these things according to your expert experience. The best marker of future execution is past execution. Relating the KSA's to your own life is adequate, yet it is smarter to relate them to paid work understanding. Envision the Interview Questions A significant number of the inquiries addresses will be gotten from the activity posting. For example, a vocation posting may show one of the necessary capacities as the capacity to convey successfully verbally and recorded as a hard copy to differing crowds. On the off chance that you flip the necessary capacity into an inquiry question, it would be something like this: as far as you can tell, how have you conveyed adequately to assorted crowds? In the event that you flip around each KSA into an inquiry, you can set yourself up for a large number of the inquiries addresses you will be inquired. Get ready Questions to Ask Your Interviewer As you get ready for your meeting, you will run over things that befuddle you or that don't bode well. Maybe there is a report on the organization's site or a KSA that could be deciphered a few different ways. Think about certain inquiries to pose during your meeting. Ensure your inquiries are not egotistical. Try not to get some information about compensation, advantages, occasions, or get-away. These things can be talked about once you have a proposition for employment. Stay away from inquiries concerning work headway except if they are totally vital. You need to show your questioner that you're keen on carrying out this responsibility well more than you are tied in with securing the following position.

Revealing to Your Boss and HR When you affirm the subtleties of your offer letter and set a beginning date (and not brief sooner), it's an ideal opportunity to tell your chief. Ensure you do this before you tell any other person in the organization, including your immediate reports or close collaborators. Your manager ought to be the first to realize you're leaving, and he ought to be advised up close and personal, says Nicole Williams, CEO and organizer of profession consultancy WORKS. In any case, regardless of whether you convey the news in the first part of the day or toward the day's end is up to you. Think about your supervisor's style, says Lynne Sarikas, executive of the Career Center at Northeastern University. Do whatever appears to be regular and suitable as though it were simply one more gathering you are setting up. Contingent upon your organization arrangement, you may likewise need to compose an official renunciation letter to submit to HR. It's their right, says Ryan Naylor, CEO and organizer of LocalWork.com, however most will presumably need you to finish your most recent fourteen days to wrap up undertakings and train your substitution, if conceivable. In case you're in an especially significant venture, you might need to think about giving additional time (say, an additional week), accepting your new business is amiable, to guarantee a smooth change. This may be fundamental in case you're vital to, for instance, a huge deals proposition shutting or you're three weeks from the dispatch of a site overhaul you've been driving for a year. Same is valid for your colleagues. Dumping a venture on them at the last hour won't help in supporting future kinships once you're no longer in a similar office. The principal thing representatives will need to know is who they will answer to since you're leaving, says Naylor. Contingent upon the size of your group and your associations with every part, talking one-on-one with your reports may be useful, Naylor includes. It tends to be an exceptionally troublesome, dismal, and mistaking time for workers when their director leaves, so tending to them by and by and responding to any inquiries they have, without insulting the organization in any capacity, can be useful. By and large, remain positive, answer questions impartially, and give whatever number subtleties as could reasonably be expected about your progress plan and how the duty will move to each colleague throughout the following fourteen days. What's more, get ready for things to begin to feel diverse in the workplace once the news is out. One rule of thumb for your resume is to ensure that it earns revenue in excess of the amount of money your company has spent on your training. Write your resume in terms of wording your successes effectively. For example, a person in sales could mention bringing in a key client for the company. If the client contributed $10 million to your companys bottom line, then that will be a demonstration of your ability to close profitable sales. It also shows your value to potential employers. Thats precisely how you want prospective employers to think of you in terms of how much value you bring to them. When it comes to demonstrating numerical success, you have several options. If you refrain from getting bogged down in your duties and draw attention to your successes instead, then youll be able to clearly demonstrate to potential employers why you are the right candidate for the job. Focus on results. Make sure your resume doesnt look like you copied your job description off a company website. Use hard and verifiable facts about how you created success in past positions. This will separate you from the competition. If youre not sure how to use hard facts, go back and read some performance reviews. What did your boss consider your strengths? If your performance review shows high praise for your ability to communicate effectively with clients, you can use that in your resume. You can incorporate that information to make yourself stand out from the crowd. But what if you cant do that? Then try to come up with accomplishments you made that were significant improvements to your companys culture and overall work environment. Did you improve work efficiency? Did your customer service skills result in happier customers and fewer complaints? Think along those lines. I hope this gives you a better idea of how you can demonstrate ROI to potential employers. Think in terms of numerical successes will clear examples. Youll soon have the job of your dreams.
